How It Works

Below is an example of the code for a blog hop or train which I am using as a link list.
First when clicking the link for the code, you will be given a choice between Blogger or Wordpress so copy and paste the appropriate code in your blog post HTML.

This first box is for Blogger, Self-Hosted or Other that allow javascript
(if you do NOT have a FREE BLOG at Wordpress.com, try this code first).

The next box is for Free Wordpress.com or blogs
that don't allow "<script>" (javascript).

Copy and paste the code into your blog post HTML where you want the blog hop list/link to appear.  Make sure you are in HTML view/mode when you paste in the code.
What is a blog hop or train?

This is a linky list that is SHARED ON MULTIPLE BLOGS.
When several blogs put the same linky list code on their blog, the
exact same list appears on each blog.

Blog visitors can submit their entries on any blog that contains the list.
The entries will appear on each blog where the list resides.

Blog readers see the same list on each blog, and can "HOP" from blog
to blog seeing the same list of links to follow: BLOG HOP!

In the artist or scrapworld this is commonly referred to as a blog train, but a link list is as old as the internet itself. The example below is for you to get a better understanding of the tools we are working with here. Please feel free to add you links to your creative blogs and websites.

(Please note: we do check each link for spam, so please don't bother if that is your intention.)

We will also be using this tool for a variety of other events such as challenges and contests, special occasions and more. You may find blog trains and link ups for crafts, vintage collectibles, fashion, the uses are only an idea away!

REQUIREMENTS AND  RULES FOR OUR MONTHLY BLOG TRAINS

Each month we will have a theme. During the holidays most themes will be obvious, but special themes and events can also occur or be scheduled. To take advantage of updates to the different events, you can subscribe to this blog, or join my newsletter, both of which can be found on the side links.

The way this will work, is those who wish to participate in the actual monthly blog trains, will want to join our Facebook Group and especially our DSC Forum to get the 911 on what you need to know. You must also join our forum, as this is where the private code will be placed at least 15 days before the train goes live. (facebook does not allow java script, therefore the train code will not work there) Once the code is placed on the forum, you will all have 15 days to create your blog post draft, schedule it, and place the contribution in the script.

The blog train theme will be announced at least a month in advance of submissions, and submissions themselves will open in around the 15th of each month. Submissions to blog trains will close at midnight of the night the trains go live. At the deadline (end of submissions) the code will be placed on the actual blog train post, and submissions will no longer be taken.
NOTE: Add the link to your FREEBIE POST, NOT your blog index page.

You will find the url of that months train on the new submissions page each month.
No Blog code on your blog by Train Departure, your freebie contribution will be deleted.
The reasoning behind these rules are from the hassle and aggravation many people including myself, experience when a blog train is said to take off, and the entire list is posted, yet half the destinations are as much as a week late, and some never board at all, so frustrating. I want to avoid that by making the linking process short and sweet, and automatic.

Just like any other train in real life, if your not there on time, you will miss the train and have to wait for the next one. I think this might actually make it more fun and challenging, and also open up the window for voting, and
contests.... winners etc....

Each month you will find a new submission theme that you will only be given through the Facebook Group, or the DigiScrapCafe Forum. This is also to deter spam, or unwanted, or unrelated submissions from the random public. After the submissions close, that months code is moved inside the given blog post.

Don't have a Facebook account (I don't blame you lol) join the DigiScrapCafe instead.

Afternote:
Since this is the first month of the reboot, the page code will stay open a couple extra days after the first.... that is to encourage folks to join, and hopefully build a train team for the future. Then as this blog train gets larger and more viral, I will for sure be hiding the codes in the private groups entirely.
